This book seeks to assess the risk and vulnerability of climate-induced disasters in India, with special reference to the state of Gujarat. Analyzing the impact of disasters on the society and economy of Gujarat, it evaluates the disaster management process in the state.
Further, it identifies the determinants of prevailing vulnerability in the state and the districts which are highly vulnerable due to climate-induced disasters. Finally, it prepares risk index incorporating prevailing vulnerability in the state for all the three selected climate-induced disasters. It provides as well the ways and means of integrating risk reduction strategies into development planning and climate change policies.
