The most remarkable phenomenon in India since Independence has been the phenomenal growth of Public sector undertakings. Currently the public sector undertakings dominate the economic and industrial scene in India. They have not only played an important role as an instrument of policy but also for the economic development of the country. The foremost need of the country is for the increased production particularly in the public sector. But it can not be denied that the lack of industrial harmony in the public sector has been a very important contributory factor in depressing the production of the public sector units below their capacities. Wages have always been the most important aspect of labour problems even in the public sector. The present book deals with the role of wages and the extent of wage problems in the Rajasthan State Enterprises. In the present book wages in the public sector have been compared with the wages in the co-existing private sector units. The book will assist scholars and those dealing with the wage problems to develop a balanced and objective view of what is happening or what is possible in the field of wage policy.
