This is a brief introductory book on the wildlife disease in India. A large number of people and activists has been over the years positively involved in conservation of wildlife and wet lands of the southern districts of Tamil Nadu through ecological research and environment education activities. Koonthakulam Bird Sanctuary is one of the study areas of IRNI where several migratory anti non-migratory water birds co-exist from October to April every year. Since there is considerable speculation that some of the migratory birds coming from North-eastern territories could bring Bird Flue disease into India. It was considered necessary and timely to use expertise to conduct this awareness and training workshop exclusively for officials of some of the government departments who are directly responsible for handling the bird flue situation. This effort is meant to complement the good work being already done by the above departments. The active cooperation extended to IRNE by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department and the Animal Husbandry Department contributed to the success of this programme. This book is about the problems and diseases in wildlife in India.
