ABOUT THE AUTHOR Richard M. Mitchell
Richard M. Mitchell (b. 1940), a well known American zoologist, is considered an authority an high altitude Asian Mammals. Mitchell has spent more than three decade conducting wildlife researches in Alaska, Canada, China, Egypt, India, Nepal, New Guinea, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tibet, and the continental United States. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Zoology from Iowa State University for his research on the accounts of Nepalese mammals and analysis of the Host-Ectoparasite data by computer techniques. He has been employed as a professional big-game guide both in Alaska (1960-63) and Nepal (1965-1970). He has conducted ecological and population surveys of polar bears in Hudson Bay, tigers in Nepal and upland and small game in Ontario, Canada. He was personally invited to the People’s Republic of China in 1980, 1982, and 1985. Mitchell has also conducted research on the high altitude mammals in the “Roof top of the World†(Tibet). Since 1979, he has been employed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services working for the office of Endangered Species (Federal Assistance Program) and the office of Scientific Authority (Research Program).
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rishikesh Shaha
Rishikesh Shaha (b. 1925) is Nepal’s internationally known political analyst, a veteran statesman, an avid shikari and a conservationist. During his eventful life, he has held several key positions and has authored many books, most noted being, Modern Nepal: A Political History (1969-1995) Politics in Nepal (1980-1990), and Three Decades and Two Kings: Eclipse of Nepal’s Partyless Monarchic Rule in Nepal. Currently, Shaha lives in Kathmandu where he works as President of Human Rights Organization of Nepal.
