This book seeks to examine the various aspects of woman emancipation as depicted in Indian English novels. It attempt to see the women as a human being, discriminated against, oppressed, fighting for her liberation, trying to assert her right to live with dignity and freedom, and her journey from fettered lot to a new woman in the 21st century.
The major Indian English novelists studied in this book include R.K. Narayan, Sorabji, Kamla Markandaya, Anita Desai, Manju Kapoor, Shashi Deshpande, Kamala Dass, Arundhati Roy, Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, Nayantara Sehgal and Kiran Desai.
