The present book is an effort to find out the problems of women health in Uttarakhand. This work is based on the empirical survey and first hand information. For that purpose the Uttarakhand Himalaya has been comprehensively surveyed. The book begins with an introduction of the Demography of Indian Himalaya which includes urban-rural population, density, sex-ratio, literacy etc. It moves forward in geo-physical, economic, cultural, food habits, nutritional and environmental aspects of the region with investigating the problem through sample surveys. The study concludes with the measures and suggestions for the improvement of the women status in the region. Since the present work deals with the burning aspects of social setup in Uttarakhand, therefore, it is hoped that this book would be useful for geographers, sociologists, anthropologists, economists, students and for everyone, who has a little concern for the Uttarakhand Himalaya.
