Women in Contemporary Society

Womenfolk constitute half population of the world. Though they are almost numerically equal, the position of women is the bone of contention irrespective of the time period. India, the traditional bound country, gives a due respect and reverence to women. Ironically, women are most affected segment of our country. They are being targeted and subjugated to various social evils even in the digital era. The graph of crime against women and girl children are always linear. We can’t deny the role of women in national development and buildings. On the one hand, there are efforts to empower them at various fronts. On the other hand, they are suppressed at many levels. The Indian constitution ensures the equality but in practice there is widespread gender discrimination. This book highlights the various issues pertaining to women in the contemporary society.
