Islamic World is a vast world. It has a lot in its fold. In fact, the moment, the term `Islam' confronts someone, a world of far-stretching frontiers starts embossing in one's imagination. Islamic culture and civilization took birth over fourteen centuries ago in the lap of the Arabian desert. A Piece of land–covered out-and-out by the blanket of ignorance, cruelty and long-harboured grudges and differences with regard to caste, creed and colour–gave birth to an apostle of mercy and kindness, love and affection, at a time, when the intensity of inhuman acts – stone melting and heart-rending barbarity-reached its peak. A nation which was always at daggers drawn over petty matters, and which knew not how to bow out of pride ignorance, is now among the loftiest and noblest people in the world – the Arabs. This overall transformation from enmity to brotherhood, cruelty to kindness and pride to passionate submission is one of those live miracles of the last Messenger and Prophet of the Almighty, Hadrat Muhammad (Pbuh) which has left whole of the world stunned. Presently, a world in itself, Islamic world comprises more than fifty countries. Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) came in this world to abolish all evils from the earth. He had a heart, full of kindness; the kindness, which knew no bounds and was completely unprejudiced. Seeing his determination, divine help also descended to his succour to shore up his morale and courage.
This modest work, an encyclopaedia, per se, namely, `World of Islam' is the fruition of tremendous toil. This work not so voluminous, virtually covers all the features, aspects and dimensions of Islam, as a faith and way of life. To say the least, it is an asset for all scholars, researchers and academics, working on Islam and all those, who may be interested to know about this progressive and revolutionary faith.
