King Bhulokamalla Somesvara III of the Western Chalukyan dynasty composed Manasollasa, a work encyclopedic in nature, in 1131 A.D. In the chapter dealing with Grihopabhoga, King Somesvara gives directions to be followed for the construction of the Palace of the King.
