ABOUT THE AUTHOR Bansi Lal Kaul
Dr. Bansi Lal Kaul (born 1942) after passing M.Sc. Zoology from the University of Jammu and Kashmsir, Srinagar (India) in 1963 joined as lecturer in the Department of higher education, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. He was awarded Ph.D. in Fish Biology by the University of Kashmir in 1972. He served in various capacities including as Principal of Government College, Kathua and government of P.M.R. College of Commerce and Business Studies, Jammu. In 1991 Dr. Kaul was awarded prestigious World Food Day Award by the Food & Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations. He has organized several seminars, conferences and awareness programmes on food security, wildlife and environment. He is fellow of the Linnean Society of London and the zoological Society of Londonand the Zoological Society of London. He is the founder of Indian society for Popularisation of Science and is associated with a large number of scientific and environmental societies like Bombay Natural History Society, Indian association for Advancement of Science and National Institute of Ecology. He is also on the panel of experts of several National Organisations.
