Pollution is the contamination of the physical and biological components of the earth/atmosphere system to such an extent that normal environmental processes are adversely affected. Bioremediation is an option that offers the possibility to destroy or render harmless various contaminants using natural biological activity. Some examples of bioremediation technologies are bioventing, land farming, bioreactor, composting, bioaugmentation, rhizofiltration and biostimulation.
The present book Bioremediation of Wastes and Environmental Laws incorporates articles on various aspects of pollution with special emphasis on bioremediation, phytoremediation and environmental laws of India. The book include articles on pollution causes, effects and solution, microbial bioremediation of wastes, phytoremediation-a novel approach for remediation of hazardous materials, microbe assisted phytoremediation of fly ash and bioremediation of waste material. A detailed chapter on environmental laws of India provide sufficient information on the constitutional provisions backed by a number of laws-acts, rules and notifications issued by Government of India time to time.
