Even if all quests for a universally accepted concept of God have remained futile so far, this book is yet another effort to explore this ever-illusive idea in philosophical theology. Beginning with a discussion of theology vis-à-vis philosophy, the author goes on to examine the status of God in theology, religious language, religious mysticism, and how God is positioned in relation to reason, faith and human destiny – to finally conclude: “Concept of God represents our firm determination to live with our fellow beings as a common hypothesis either to live together or to be annihilated in a common death.” Dr Arun Narayan Bhandari is presently Lecturer in Philosophy, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, Jharkhand.
