National Security

‘Security’ appears to have become a misnomer in this age when one considers the atrocities – including – assassinations, riots, hijackings and threats – that are being committed. People have forgotten what normal conditions can be like. In the wake of all this, it seems pertinent to focus on security in a multifaceted manner since one outrage seems inevitably connected with another. Trilok Nath’s book discusses national security concentrating of terrorism, drug traffic, hijacking and the problem of Punjab with a comprehensive chapter devoted to industrial security. The author suggests a three point plan to counter insurgency in all these areas and steps which should be taken to fortify the police force. The book throws new light on an importunate problem and sees things from a new angle. It is refreshing to read such a book especially at a time when the country is striving to solve the problem of insurrection.
