The present book examines some of the important aspects of Inter State relations in ancient India during 200 BC to 700 AD.
The book analyses the system of relationship of ancient India with neighboring states. From the facts narrated in the book it is clear that India failed to develop a permanent relationship with states outside India. The first sign of Indian civilization emerged in the territories stretching westward from Indus Valley to Atlantic across Western Asia along the North African shore and eastward to the Yangtze Valley.
The book gives the details of India’s relations with other states from 200 BC to 700 AD. The book has been divided into six chapters. The first chapter is an introductory which deals with the theoretical aspects as well as various sources of information. The second chapter outlines the India’s relations with outside world before 200 BC. The third chapter delineates the details of India’s relations with the east between 200 BC and AD 700. The details of India’s relations with the west between the referred period have been presented in the fourth chapter. The fifth chapter examines the interrelationship during different periods of ancient India. The last chapter contains summary and conclusion.
The author has tried to display his skill in presentation of facts in scientific manner. However any suggestions to improve the book is welcomed.
