It contains a systematic account of 57 species, distributed among six genera of the family boletaceae and includes Ecological data on the distribution and occurrence of many species of boletes recorded herein, in some selected forests of Himachal Pradesh. For taxonomic treatment each species has been described and illustrated in detail covering all aspects of morphology and anatomy. Specific notes on habit and habitat, collections examined, relationships of the species, edibility and the mycorrhizal associations, if any, follow the detailed description. The treatment includes many new records for India, some new species and varieties for science, and ethnic observations on some hitherto unknown edible species.
