This book seeks to make an in-depth study of the actual living and working conditions of scavengers in Tamil Nadu, with special reference to Salem, Erode, Tiruppur and Coimbatore Municipal Corporations.
Analyzing the socio-economic and political status of scavengers in the state, it tries to find out the common problems faced by them in semi-urban areas. It also examines the present life style of scavengers with special focus on the basic facilities such as housing, education, employment, health, and income and expenditure patterns.
