China has declared ‘Outer Space and Cyber Space’ as the new commanding heights in strategic competition among all partices and is accelerating its evolution to informatization. The control of cyberspace is central to the PLA’s overarching goal of the becoming a force that can ‘win wars under informatized conditions’ as the newest element of its military strategy. China pursues a strategy of aggressive cyberspace management and is in the midst of fortering a military cyber force to further the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCPs) primary interest. China Emerging Cyber Operations Capabilities and Implications for India deals with various options available and the actions India needs to take to bo;ster its security in the fifth domain of warfare in the backdrop of incerasing Chinese threats.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Colonel Rohit Mehrotra
Colonel Rohit Mehrotra was commissioned in the Crops of Signals in 1986. An ex NDA officer, he har done his B Tech in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Military College of Telecommunications Engineering and M Tech in Communication Engineering from the llT Kharagpur.
He has a wide experience in the field of Telecommunications and Information Technology and has been associated with modernization of communication infrastruture for the Indian Army in Strategic and Tactical Domains. Colonel Rohit Mehrotra has been an instructor at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, Colonel GS (Information Systems) at a Crops and Deputy Director (Tactical Communication) at the IHQ of MoD (Army). He was the Director Inducation/Operations and looked after Communication Projects at the IHQ of MoD (Army) prior to joining as a Senior Research Fellow at the USI,New Delhi.
