The present work consists seventy-six papers arranged under twenty nine themes written by national and international prominent library scholars. The contributions have highlighted Prof. Kaula’s ideals and contributions to the Indian librarianship. Prof. Kaula has promoted theories and techniques for Prof. S.R. Ranganathan throughout his lifetime. He himself is a prominent dynamic personality and a legendary figure in the discipline. This is a unique effort of its kind in which papers have been contributed in honour of Prof. Kaula on his 71st birthday. The publication has valuable contributions on all aspects of library movement in the country and outside. New innovations of the discipline and international concerns have been outlined. The volume will certainly be useful to the library users and to the knowledge seekers of library and information science.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR O.P. Agrawal
O.P. Agrawal, Founder and Former Director of the National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property and at present Director General of the INTACH Indian Council of Conservation Institutes is considered to be the foremost international authority in the field of conservation of cultural heritage of Asia. During his long career of almost 50 years, he has been intimately connected with numerous national and international professional organizations. Activities of O.P. Agrawal have been multi faceted and in him, one can find an amalgam of a creator, a visionary, a scientist, a writer, a researcher, a trainer, a conservator and a museologist. He is the president of the International Council of Bio-deterioration of Cultural Property; is the former President of the India Association of the Study of Conservation of Cultural Property and was also the president of the Museums Association of India. He acted as the Vice-President of the ICCROM Council, Rome for several years. He has often been invited to go abroad as a Consultant on behalf of UNESCO, ICOM and ICCROM. He has authored or edited about 35 books and contributed more than 200 articles. He is the recipient of the International Award "Personality of Conservation" - 1990 from Brazil and ICCROM Award - 1993. Kanpur University conferred upon him D.Litt. (Honoris Causa) in 1994.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR P.P. Rawat
P.P. Rawat Librarian in the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow is a versatile personality associated with teaching, administration and research in the field of Library Science. He has done his M.A. in Sociology from Gorakhpur University and M.A. in History from Bundelkhand University. Mr Rawat has completed his B.Lib.Sc. from Mohanlal Sukhadia University Udaipur and Masters in Library Science from Vikram University Ujjain. Mr. Rawat has worked as librarian in the Bundelkhand Govt. Ayurvedic College and Hospital in Jhansi. He has also worked as an Honorary Principal in the Library Science Training Centre at Jhansi between 1977 and 1988. During this period he has taught different topics in Library Science. A Life member of many Journals in Library Science he has written many reviews and is an eminent author in the field of Library Science. He has been awarded the Bhamasa Award by the Maharana Mewar Foundation, Rajasthan, for topping in B.Lib.Sc. Which is a lifetime achievement.
