Policy of globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation in select areas are the new paradigms in a developing economy. This process has affected the different reforms of Indian economy. Growth and increased competitiveness of the corporate sector, technology upgradation and emerging consumer markets are the result of the process of opening up the economy. Keeping in view the vast size of rural market in India economic reforms have vast implication for the rural sector. Rural industrialisation and development of agriculture has also become important to ensure all-round development of rural economy. This book Rural Development Management is an attempt to understand the problem areas in the development of rural sector and to suggest certain strategies in this regard. ABOUT THE AUTHOR B.S. Bhatia
Dr. B.S. Bhatia is presently Director, RIMT Institute of Management and Computer Technology, Mandi Gobindgarh. He has over four decades of rich experience in teaching, research, consultancy, industrial management and university administration. He has written/edited 30 books and has published over 65 research papers in national/international journals of repute. He supervised Ph.D. research work of 30 scholars and has conducted over two dozen executive development programs. Dr. Bhatia has been associated with a large number of organisations in various capacities like Member, LIC Zonal Board; Member, Management Board of AICTE; Senator, TIET; Consultant, PSEB; Member, academic Council MD University, Rohtak; Member, Syndicate, Senate, Finance Committee; and Academic Council of Pubjabi University, Patiala, etc. He has been President of Patiala Management Association. He has the distinction of being the first person to be appointed as Professor of Management for Hindustan Steel Chair at prestigious Indian School of Mines, dhanbad. Previously, he had served in several senior positions like Registrar; Dean Academic Affairs; Dean Research; Dean College Development Council at Pubjabi University, Patiala; and Directors of several companies and is a member of Committee on Higher Education set-up by Government of Punjab.
