It analyses, their farming performance in terms of their role, role perception, decision making pattern in cropping intensity, crop yield index, milk yield index, level of adoption, commercialisation index and diversification index in specified farming systems approach. The analysis highlights and supports the dominant role women play in agriculture and related enterprises in a farming systems approach. The increasing participation of women in agriculture and their farming performance in family farm lands leading to a process of feminisation of agriculture, emphasises the study, is a key to sustainable agriculture. The book would be useful to the planners, researchers and administrators in understanding the potential of farm women and their farming performance related to land based enterprises to develop a strategy to harness this potential to enable them to move from subsistence agriculture to major income source for improved living standards.
