It is now universally recognized that the facts of geography shed light on the understanding of history. In the case of the ancient Greeks a knowledge of the peculiarities of their land and climate is also lately indispensable. It is especially note worthy that Greek culture and education were of purely humanistic origin. All the varied forms of art in which their genius revealed had their beginnings in the simple and spontaneous activities of gifted childhood. First volume traces the history of world education in the Greece origins. It is now well known that the Romans developed their educational system on the foundations of Greece Education. It is an interesting history of Education. Medieval schools were realistic and eminently practical in relating their programmes to their religious orientation and ultimate concerns but it was this orientation and there concerns that the modern world was often to find unacceptable. Humanistic schools and humanistic educational theorists revived classical goals of learning, which in their own day had great utility. But in the long run there schools did ot close the gap between life and learning and the theories that the humanist proposed did not do so either, because classical schools and classical theories simply tended to widen the gap. It will thus he seen that the medieval system of education developed on the classical education system and diverted significantly. The years between 1870 and 1903 witnessed a development of English public instruction which has not equal in British history. It affected education of all grades and was particularly, though not exclusive marked in the sphere of Education. The British system of education influenced not only Indian education in greatly influenced American system of education as well. There are two characteristics of the modern education, the first is its mass character and the second is its secular nature apart from the new basis of technology.
