The international guidelines on teacher education are intended for the policy planners, educational officers, academic administrators, and heads of teacher education institutions and others who are concerned with the expansion and implementation of open and distance learning in teacher education. These guidelines are developed based on the recent experiences in teacher education; the case studies undertaken on behalf of UNESCO in Brazil, Burkina Faso, Chile, China, India, Mangolia, Nigeria, South Africa and United Kingdom; and several other international studies.
