Spices hold significant position in human life as essential component of food and are valued for income at domestic and international levels. India has been recognised as the "land of spices" and tempted many foreign travellers. Recent past has put an evidence that the productivity and quality levels of spices are poorer that the country’s need. This happened even with good development of production and processing packages alongwith a number of improved cultivars which indicates their poor application to the root level due to paucity of appropriate literature. Present age is the age of competition for seeking admissions in masters and doctoral programmes, securing good placements for which a candidate is required to be well equipped to achieve the target. Production technology of spices intends to help the spice producers and processors in boosting the production with quality of international repute and to students in seeking admissions and securing good grades in higher studies, getting fellowships and jobs. The manuscript has been shaped to cover all the aspects of spices related to their values, production, processing. Breeding and plant protection etc. in a simple language and concise form than, the book may prove meaningful to all concerned with spices production and to the students for success in JRF, SRF, ARS, NET and any other such kind of competitions.

Ankur Agrawal is a B.Tech (Manufacturing-Science & Engineering) from IIT Kharegpur and is doing MBA from ISB Hyderabad. He has worked for 4 years as Asstt. Manager, OSD to the President, Business Analyst, and Secretary to CEO in M/s Jindal United Steel In-Corporation, USA, Baytown, Texas, USA. He has published jointly two books entitled ‘Dadi ki Kahaniya’ & ‘Bureaucracy to Bureaucrazy’ in English.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.S. Tiwari
Dr. R.S. Tiwari (b. 1951) obtained his post-graduate degree in Economics from Allahabad University in 1973 and Ph.D. from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad in 1983. Prior to his assignment at giri Institute of Development Studies, Lucknow, he served as staff and faculty member at Sardar Patel Institute of Economic and Social Research, Ahmedabad since 1974. Dr. Tiwari has been working as Fellow at Giri Institute of Development Studies, Lucknow, since 1986. he specializes in International Economics, Industiral Economics and Urban Economics and has published several research articles in prestigious national and international journals. Dr. Tiwari also visited Paris, France in 1995 under Indo-French Cultural Exchange Programme. A prolific writer, Dr. Tiwari has authored over six outstanding books. He has completed many research studies. Currently Dr. Tiwari is engaged in a research study Intra-Firms Trade Between India and USA: A Structural Analysis.
