Dr. Goving P. Rao is working as Head and Senior Scientific Officer at Sugarcane Research Station, Gorakhpur, India. He is the Editor-in-chief of 'Sugar Tech', an international journal of sugar crops and has published 8 books and 6 text books. He has beeninvolved in research an sugarcane pathology for the last 15 years. Dr. Rao is currently working on the diagnosis, characterization and management of fungal, bacterial, viral and phytoplasma diseases of sugarcane in India.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.C. Magarey
Dr. R.C. Magarey is Principal Research Officer with BSES stationed at Tully Sugar Experiment Station in far-north Queensland, Australia. A consultant pathologist, Rob has been with BSES for 23 years and has worked with a variety of sugarcane diseases. He has considerable experience with diseases in PNG, having been a consultant to the PNG sugar industry for over 15 years. He is currently leading a project involving Indonesian, Papua New Guinean and Australian scientists that is attempting to conserve the Saccharum germplasm indigenous to the area.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.S. Grewal
Sewakinder S. Grewal served in the Indian sugar Industry for over 16 years in an executive capacity. He has managed large sugar mills, distilleries and has been involved in pioneering initiatives in sugarcane management, finance and risk management relating to industry. Currently, he is based in Kenya associated with IT technology initiatives related to the sugar industry, providing consultancy and Risk management practice related to industry and banking with US based Amity Software Inc.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Yang-rui Li
Dr. Yang-rui Li earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Agronomy, fujian Agricultural University, China. He was a visiting scientist in the Department of Agricultural Biochemistry, University of Hawaii and University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. He is President of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences since May 1998. He specializes in sugarcane physiology, biochemistry, moelcular biology and chemical regulation of growth and development of sugarcane. Dr. Li is Vice-President of the Chinese Society of Sugarcane Technologists and chenical regulation of growth and development of sugarcane. Dr. Li is Vice-President of the Chinese Society of Sugarcane Technologists and Society for Sugar Research and Promotion (India). He has received 11 scientific research achievement awards from the Chinese government.
