This volume includes 60 number of papers presented by the Geologists, geochemists, medical researchers, environment engineers and allied scientists in the workshop on Medical Geology organized by the Geological Survey of India under the Aegis of IGCP-454 at Nagpur on 3-4 February, 2004. The papers presented are divided broadly into two chapters. In the first chapter there are eleven papers delivered by eminent researchers from the premier research and scientific organisations of India. The second chapter includes six sections on various geo-medical topics. There are 49 papers presented in this chapter which includes topics related to geogenic factors such as toxic elements in soil, rock, water, air, metals and non-metals etc which affect the health of biota. This volume is a unique one of its kind to be published first time in India. The knowledge disseminated through this volume will help in bringing together scientists, including medical practitioners, working in the field of medical geology.
