He holds an Engineering Graduate degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur., M.B.A. from Calcutta University, Kolkata and Ph.D. degree in commerce from Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut (U.P.) and various other academic degrees. Dr. Ghosh, who has a distinguished academic career has several research publications to his credit. Dr. Ghosh is considered as an authority on telecommunication at Global level.
