Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Economics is a pioneering work in the realm of economic dictionaries, with its panoramic horizon comprising 3259 entries and contains the wealth of up-to-date and authentic information on anything and everything of importance in economic science-“queen among the social sciencesâ€-written from the pre-Aristotlean days to 1985. Encompassing all the schools of economic thought, viz., ancient economic thought, mercantilism, physiocracy, classical school, neo-classical school, modern school and neo-modern school, the present book includes definitions of economic terms, statements of economic laws, theories and principles, descriptions of economic and financial institutions and organizations of the world and biographical sketches of over 173 foreign and 69 Indian economists who have left indelible imprint on the subject. The author has covered 30 branches of Economics ranging from economics of war th economics of love, and by bringing to gather hundreds of economists who seldom agree with one another, face to face, he has presented comprehensive and intelligible information on each economic matter. The book is designed to be immensely useful not only to under-graduate, post-graduate and post-doctoral student and to those appearing for competitive examinations, research scholars, teachers, and authors, but also to economic administrators, planners, policy-makers, journalists, business managers, and the general reader with a little bit of interest in Economics but having economic consciousness. The author has enhanced the utility of the book by incorporating the list of entries, list of author quoted, abbreviations commonly used while writing books and articles, and select quotable quotes in Economics. Another special feature of this book is that it mentions within parenthesis against each entry, the context in which the term is used. The present work is the most reliable source book and reference tool to the advanced readers whilst it is a book for initiating understanding of the beginners.
