ABOUT THE AUTHOR N.B. Ghodke

Born on December 28, 1933 in Karnataka, Ningappa Basappa ghodke passed his S.s.C. examination with distinction in 1954. After passing B.A. in Economics in first class from Karnataka college, Dharwad in 1958, he joined Bombay University and passed M.A. and L.L.B. examinations. His teachers included such eminent persons as Dr. D.T. Lakdawala, Dr. P.R. Brahmananda, Miss Aldo Dastur, Prof. T.K. Tope and Dr. V.K. Gokak. He started his career as a lecturer in Economics in Yeshwant Mahavidyalya, Nanded in 1963. In 1968 he became senior Lecturer and taught M.A. classes in Economics. In 1970 he joined Kittel college, Dharwad. After serving there as Reader in Economics for three years, he was appointed in 1974 as Reader cum Principal in C.S.I. college of commerce, Dharwar. In 1983 he was promoted as Professor of Economics-cum-Principal. Mr. Ghodke has been member, Senate and Academic Council, Karnatak University; member, Broad of Studies in Commerce, Karnatak University; member, board of Appointment of Examiners and several other perstigious bodies/societies. Mr. Ghodke knows four languages: English, Hindi, Kannada and Marathi and is also an orator and a regular writer to Kannada and English Newspapers. Besides a number of articles, he is the author of Principles of Elememtary Economics, An Outline of Indian Economy and A Socio-Economic Survey of Lohgaon and Jigla. For Seven years form 1975 to 1982, he edited a monthly economic journal-The Welfare Economist.
