The production and supply of good quality seed of high-yielding varieties is one of the most important requirements of modern agriculture and a challenge to seed technologists. Seeds play an important role in disseminating pathogenic organisms to areas from which, hitherto, they have been absent and seed-borne infection may be the starting point for a serious disease in the growing crop. During seed storage, the metabolic activities of microorganisms may cause even greater losses. Hence, an integrated disease management approach and suitable seed technology needs to be developed. This book, Seed Technology and Seed Pathology, is a unique, comprehensive book and provides up-to-date information relating to recent areas of research in Seed Technology and Seed Pathology in the Indian perspective. It is divided into four sections: Seed Physiology, Quality and Seed Production; Seed storage, Bio-deterioration and Mycotoxins; Seed-borne Microflora and Diseases; and Management of Seed-borne Diseases. This book is extremely useful for teachers, researchers and students in the field of Seed Science and Technology, Seed Pathology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Horticulture, Forestry, Entomology and others interested in different branches of Botany and Agriculture.
