Globalisation has forced organisations to look beyond the geographical and political boundaries of their countries. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Prabir Kumar Bandyopadhyay

Prabir Kumar Bandyopadhyay holds a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Engineering from TIPIE of National Productivity Council and also a PhD from Jadavpur University. He has undergone training in ‘Productivity and Quality Improvement’ in Japan and Singapore, sponsored by Asian Productivity Council. He is currently working as Head Consulting and New Initiatives, Balasore Alloys Ltd, Balasore. Prior to this, he was working as a faculty member at Icfai Business School, Ahmedabad. Earlier, he was associated with the National Productivity Council for over two decades and was involved in productivity and quality improvement. He has played a key role in several organizations with regard to improving productivity and implementing Quality Circle, TQM, ISO9000, ISO14000, TPM and Six Sigma. He has also served as faculty at IBAT, Bhubaneshwar for a brief period. He has published several papers on productivity, quality, risk assessment, and fuzzy logic application. His areas of interest include measuring knowledge and service worker productivity, Six Sigma and application of fuzzy logic in management field.
