A year ago Outlook Traveller Getaways brought you 75 Holidays in the Hills.  Traffic to the hills saw an increase as readers took their pick from out list of old favourites and a few unheard of places.  Feedback poured in as readers shared their experiences of these hill holidays with us.  Then came the happy news that 75 holidays in the Hills had won the prestigious PATA Gold Award for travel guides in 2004-an all-Asia honour.  You can’t blame us for being encouraged to climb even higher.  So here we are with a second edition of our price-winning bestseller-with 25 new destinations.  We’re very excited about the new getaways in 100 Holidays in the Hills, because almost all of them involve low-impact tourism, and we at Outlook Traveller are particularly concerned about the health of India’s hills.  Many of these became destinations simply because of the enterprising spirit of a mountain lover who built a cottage on the edge of a cliff.  At Abbott Mount, an unspoiled corner of Kumaon, stay in Snow View Estate and watch the clouds float below your feet.  Elsewhere in Kumaon is Jilling Estate, nature-lover’s getaway.  Down south, we have much to thank the folks who own the Red Hills Resort-their home is in a part of the Nilgiris so fragile no further development may happen.  The beauty of the hills will be preserved by such homes forever.
