Pradyumna Sambhava Mahakavya composed by govinda Misra of Orissa in the eighteenth century has nineteen cantos. Although Krsna and Rukmini are the main protagonists here the poet has composed this Mahakavya in the imitation of the Kumarasambhava of Kalidasa. Fulfilling all the requisites of a Mahakavya, the text is rich in descriptions like human body, flora, fauna, Rasa,Alamkara’s and prosody. The text is also rich in proverbial usages. The text is unique un the fact that at a time when the literary tradition of Orissa was totally influenced by the Tradition of Gitagovinda, which described parakiya priti, a new poets like Govinda Misra tried to give importance to svakiya priti.
