ABOUT THE AUTHOR U.K. Chandrabhaga Devi
U.K. Chandrabhaga Devi and U.S.Krishna Rao have given over on ethousand five hundred dance recitals all over India and aborad. She has also lectured-demonstrated more then eight hundred times in India and abroad giving an insight into the beauty of Indian dance. She has trained more than 300 studentsin Bharatnatayam. At present they are training many Indian and foreign students in Bharatanatyam at their studio Maha Maya, Bangalore.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR U.S. Krishna Rao
U.S. Krishna Rao started his artistic life as a drums player and went on to become one of Karnataka’s famous exponents of Bharata Natyam. He and his wife Chandrabhaga Devi studied under the late maestro, Natyakalanidhi Meenakshi Sundara Pillai of Pandanallore. For well over forty years, they have been dancers, teachers, writers and choreographers. From 1965 to 1967 they taught and gave performances in London under the banner of the Asian Music Circle. They have also given highly acclaimed performances in Europe, South East Asia and the USA. In 1988, Krishna Rao and his wife received the prestigious Central Sangeet Natak Academy Award in the Gurus' (teachers') category for their distinguished contribution to the field of Bharata Natyam. U.S. Krishna Rao and Chandrabhaga Devi live and teach dance in Banglore, India.
