A Textbook of Elementary Linguistics and Phonetics

Elementary Linguistics and phonetics has been written according to the syllabus prescribed by Indian Universities for post-graduate examinations and combines chapters on linguistics (General, structural, socio and psycho), phonetics stylistics and theme writing. Topics have been treated precisely, yet enough details have been included to make them complete and through and it is hoped that this slender volume will prove of assistance to those for whom it has been prepared. At the end of each chapter will be found solved exercise that have been set in the university question papers. Questions on literary appreciation and theme writing have been fully solved to provide models and to encourage students to think on their own.
