ABOUT THE AUTHOR Maj Gen Nilendra Kumar

Major General Nilendra Kumar is the Judge Advocate General (JAG) of the Indian Army. Besides holding a Law Degree and Diploma in Public Administration from University of Lucknow, he is an alumini of Jamna Lal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. Commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery I 1969, he took part in the 1971 war in the Western Sector. In the JAG department since 1982, he supervised litigation on behalf of the army in various High Courts of the country. Served as Staff Judge Advocate in various Corps and Command Headquarters. He has participated in Law Seminars organized in India and abroad. He has taken concrete steps for dissemination of Human Rights among the Armed Forces personnel. Has authored five books on Military Law. He has been the guest faculty of Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Faculty of Management Studies and the National Defence College, New Delhi.
