When India got freedom on 15th August, 1947, it possessed a backward economy, most of the population below poverty line and socially backward, illiterate an poor people. The constitution members framed a constitution in which special provisions were made to provide special advantages for their speedy development, economic, political and social. In view of this, the socialistic pattern of society was adopted. The Government of India took the responsibility of providing social welfare, especially to the welfare sections and created the agency of Central Social Welfare Board to oversee and control the social welfare work. The State Government also took the responsibility of doing social welfare work. This book provides detailed information about social welfare work in India. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Nitin Batra

Nitin Batra completed his post-graduation from Sociology in 1994, and he did Ph.D. in 1999 from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He has three books to his credit. About 20 articles was published in National journals and news papers. He is teaching in a graduate and post-graduate student from eight years. He is associated with a number of difference university and colleges.
