Looking at unprecedented growth of the Aviation industry in the last decade, India is forecasted to be the third largest aviation hub by 2020. Since the turn of the millennium, Air Shows have become a part of the Indian Scenario and Aero India has gained international recognition. In the recently concluded show at Bangalore, a large number of aviation professionals and leading aerospace companies with their exquisite flying machines, got together to make it a mega event, filled with thrilling and vibrant moments.

The 8th edition of Air Show saw participation by 99 countries, nearly 100 aircraft both on static and flying display, 675 exhibitors, presence of nearly 70,000 business professionals, over 500 media personnel and approximately 2,75,000 general visitors. The participation probably surpassed only by on Olympic event.

The highlights of the flying display were MMRCA (Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft) competitors, Intermediate Jet Trainer, Light Combat Helicopter, Light Combat Aircraft, newly inducted Super Hercules C-130J, Sukhoi Superjet100, Falcon2000 & many advanced business jets, GA-7 Airvan of Mahindra and of course the daredevil flying display by IAF’s Su-30MKI, Suryakirans and Sarang Helicopter display team. Also a new induction was the ‘Flying Bulls Aerobatic Team’ of the Czech Republic.

As India enters the second century of aviation, this book is a humble attempt to bring forth the salient features of Aero India 2011.
