Afghanistan today is the great enigma of Islam. The Afghans received the light of this most rational during the the early period when it was at the zenith of learing, the period when Islam awakened the world to human potentital to master the forces of Nature. The present book, which is divided into four chapters, in the chapter first "Afghanistan Geo-political and historical perspectives", describes its geo-physical features and stages of historical development in detail. The following chapter "Turmoils in Afghanistan" analyses the history of wars in detail that have taken place in Afghanistan and how their intensity gradually gained momentum. The remaining two chapters "Economic profile and Afghanistan as a nation state" deals with basic economic structure of the country and facts the figures of Afghanistan being a nation state.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Surayia Gull

Dr. Surayia Gull (Naqati) was born in Srinagar in 1966. She had her education in her home state and passed graduate and post-graduate examinations from Kashmir University. For her Ph. D. she worked with the Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia. Currently she is working as Research Associate at the Centre for Central Asian Studies, Kashmir University, Srinagar.
