Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or cause damage to the natural environment or built environment, into the atmosphere. The atmosphere is a complex dynamic natural gaseous system that is essential to support life on planet earth. Stratospheric ozone depletion due to air pollution has long been recognized as a threat to human health as well as to the earth’s ecosystems. Sources of air pollution refer to the various locations, activities or factors which are responsible for the releasing of pollutants into the atmosphere.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR A.K. Tripathi

A.K. Tripathi is presently a senior lecturer in Department of Electronics Engineering (Degree Division) at Institute of Engineering and Rural Technology, Allahabad (U.P.). He has been teaching courses in Control and Analog Signal Processing for the past over 10 years at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has served as a faculty member (guest) in Electronics Deptt. of MNNIT, Allahabad for six years. He has rich R & D and industrial experience too. He served IAF till 1994. He earned ME with honours in Control and Instrumentation from MNNIT, Allahabad in 1996. He is currently pursuing research in the field of Control and Analog Signal Processing.
