The present book Amartya Sen and Human Development : Poverty Gender Disparity Ethics is the outcome of Indian economic association 93rd Annual Conference at Panjab University, Chandigarh on 28-30 Dec. 2010.
There are altogether 29 articles selected out of the conference. The articles cover various threads of Amartya Sen’s line of thinking in the field of economic analysis. By shifting attention from physical capital analysis to human capital creation via eradicating discrimination. Amartya Sen changed the developmental wheels direction of economic science from wealth of nations to equity and justice, thus, better living conditions moving towards prosperity of all irrespective of gender and race bias. All the 29 articles have been clubbed in four parts. Part I describes Sen’s view on the vast area of poverty. Part II contains Sen’s approach to human right questions. Part III contains Sen’s view on economics, philosophy, welfare and ethics. Part IV describes views on gender discrimination issues. The present book is an attempt to put together Sen’s economic thoughts on various economic issues and thus give a new thinking base to economic analysis.
