ABOUT THE AUTHOR Manohar Prasad
Professor Manohar Prasad of Mechanical Engineering Department of IIT Kanpur has authored three books of Energy Conversion and one book of Refrigeration and Airconditioning. He has guided about two dozen postgraduate students and published five dozen research papers in the national and international journals and conferences. In recognition of research contributions he was rewarded Sir Rajendra Nath Mookherjee memorial gold medal and N. A. lyengar memorial prize of the Institution of Engineers (I). He is also member of professional bodies including that of the International Institute of Refrigeration (Paris).
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Vedanth Kadambi
Dr. Vedanth Kadambi was on the teaching faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur during at started and grew into a renowned institution of high stature. He was instrumental in developing laboratories in Heat Transfer, Energy Conversion and Airconditioning and Refrigeration as well as in developing courses related to these areas. He was Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering when he left IIT Kanpur to take up an appointment as Visiting Professor at Lehigh University at Bethlehem, PA and later joined GE Corporate Research Division at Schenectady, NY. Then, he joined the Recuperator Division at Textron Lycoming, where he was involved in the design of recuperators for the US army's famous Abrams M1A1 tank. He was later Chief Scientist at Honeywell Engines Division and participated in the design of engine cooling flow systems for aircraft engines. After retiring from active service from Honeywell in 2001, he has been consultant to GTRE, Bangalore and was Visiting Professor at IIT-Kanpur for a period of one year. Presently, he is at the ME Department of IIT-Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad. He has published several research papers in reputed journals of heat transfer as well as in other areas and is the main author in books related primarily to Energy Conversion as well as Airconditioning and Refrigeration. He is presently a life Member of ASME.
He is still active in teaching as well in the revision of books on Energy Conversion and in setting up an Energy Research Centre at IIT-GN. He is a consultant to Institute of Plasma Research at Ahmedabad and is involved in the design of a compressor for high pressure helium circulation.
