ABOUT THE AUTHOR B. Narasimhaiah

Barkur Narasimhaiah (b. 1938) Obtained his Master's Degree in Indology from the University of Mysore in 1960. Three years later in 1963, the Archaeological Survey of India bestowed upon him the Post-graduate Diploma in Archaeology. In the year 1977 the Uniersity of Poona conferred upon him the Doctor's Degree. Since his inception in the Archaeological Survey of India in 1964, Dr. Narasimhaiah has been an active field worker engaged in the exploration and excavation of ancient sites bringing to light the cultural heritage of India. During this process he has extensively explored several districts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He has participated in exposing the Harappan and pre-Harappan remains at Kalibangan for several seasons besides conducting excavations of other cultural traits.
