The Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR) is a multinational content standard for providing bibliographic description and access for all media. It is independent of the format used to communicate information. It enables users of library catalogues and other systems of information organization to find resources appropriate to their information needs. While developed for use in English language communities, it can also be used in other language communities. The present book provides an indepth analysis of the historical background, basic principles, structures and advantages of Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules in a lucid style. It is primarily intended to meet the requirements of advanced students, researchers and professionals in the field of library and information science.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR M.T.M. Khan
Dr. M.T.M. Khan born in 1952 has his university education at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and obtained his Ph.D. degree from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. He has a very brilliant academic career. For ten years he worked as college librarian and possess twenty years teaching experience in the Bundelkhand University. Dr. Khan has been a very popular Professor for many years. He supervised 22 research scholars for award, of Ph.D.'s in Library and Information Science. He has participated in several national and international seminars and written several books and contributed research papers in the professional journals. Presently he is Dean, Faculty of Arts as well as Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi.
