The handbook is the outcome of the needs felt by practitioners of Human resource development engaged on HRD activities in several organizations. In the changing economic, social and business environments, role of HR management is undergoing rapid change. The human resources in any organization, being the most important and valuable assets, has to remain in the core of all management activities. HR management is expected to be a partner in evolving and achieving organizational goals and objectives; on the other hand, it has to be the employee champion. HR management has to continuously diagnose and assess internal and external environment and come out with skills and interventions for enabling the organization cope with the emerging challenges. For ensuring optimization, contribution from every employee is essential and for coping with the pressure of downsizing, induction, placement and promotion, design and implementation of a variety of new HRM/HRD interventions including sophisticated psychometric techniques are being used. The training development and performance management functions are being pressurized to give impressive results in the short term, which is not proving conducive to some of the long cherished expectation from the function. This is causing a deep concern to many of the exponents who believe the HRM/HRD efforts to be an investment expected to bring in more qualitative gains to the organization especially in the long run. This annual handbook has been conceived to provide encouragement to Human Resource Management professionals practicing manager, trainers, consultants and researchers to documents their valuable experiences and make it available to all or learning, discussions and adoption.
