It is an extremely interesting collection of Indian Poetry in English. Though designed to be a text book for the students of indo-Anglian Literature, the work is scholarly and engrossing. Encompassing a vast tract of time, from Derozio (1814) to the present day (1989), the book includes thirteen poets who re truly representative thirteen poets who are truly representative of all that has happened and is happening in the realm of Indo-Anglian poetry. Containing the poems of the past masters as well as of the contemporary poets established and upcoming both), this anthology will prove to be an important document for the students of Indian poetry in English. Towards the end of the book, one may find brief biographical sketches of the poets and some useful notes and annotations. In addition, there is a short butcomprehensive survey of the evolution of Indo-Anglian poetry in the beginning of the book.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ashley E. Myles
Dr. Ashley E. Myles (b. 1946) is a Reader kin English at the University of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. His Ph. D. dissertation on W.B. yeats has been published under the title “Theatre of Aristocracy†by the Institute of English and American Studies, Saizburg, Austria. He has presented and published several papers including â€The Poetry of John Keats,’Recent Trends in Indo Anglian Poetry, ‘William Golding, the Nobel Laureate’ and “T.S. Eliot and W. B. yeats – A Comparison ‘ he is on editorial Board of the Departmental Research Journal of the English Department, Gorakhpur University, which recently brought out TSF, a commemorative research volume on the occasion of the birth century of T.S. Eliot. He has associated with the teaching of Indo Anglian Literature to the Post Graduate students for over ka decade. He is editing, at present, a critical anthology of Indo-Anglian Fiction.
