Applied philosophy is a philosophy pertaining to action, consisting of, involving to action, consisting of, involving or resulting from action. It suggests the ability to adopt means to an end, or to turn what is at hand into a still, the action or process of performing or doing something. As philosophy, so applied philosophy has to be the philosophy of something. Applied philosophy has to take issues from what is being done in the fields of science and technology, politics and economics, religion and culture, or what is being said by the politicians, the economists, the sociologists, the scientists, the journalists, the futurists and the like. The present volume is an effort to show that the philosophic concepts are applied in our every-day life, experience and activity in the same way as the economic laws, constitutional laws or the laws of science. For this purpose, we have undertaken such issues as values in the context of learning; globalization: ideology, structure and processes; practical dimensions of Indian philosophy; the Buddhist foundation of universal culture and social ethics; ethical and legal dilemmas in Mahabharata; science for consciousness; human right and social justice; bio-medical ethics in ancient India and Hinduism. These are the most vibrant and living issues in applied philosophy and the contributors are the most distinguished scholars in the specific areas of specializations.
