The Mining Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI), which is one of the oldest professional institutes in Asia has been promoting the cause of Mineral Industry since its inception in 1906. MGMI has brought out a timely and appropriate publication on ‘Resurgence of Mining in Asia: Prospects and Challenges’. 75 Technical papers presented in two volumes provide a strategic road map for the mining industry of Asian countries in the coming years. ABOUT THE AUTHOR G.P. Pathak
Dr. Ganga Prasad Pathak did his M.A. (Psychology) from Allahabad University and obtained his Ph.D. from the same university. His academic career started from serving as a Lecturer in a Government College in Dibrugarh, where he served for more than two decades. After serving in various capacities in colleges and different institutes, he is currently working as an Associate Professor at a Management Institute in Manipal, Karnataka.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR L K Bose
L. K. Bose, a graduate in Mining Engineering from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, (1960) worked for 13 years in NCDC Ltd. as Manager/Project Officer. He was Chief of Planning in ECL (1978 to 1980) and Chief Mining Engineer in CMPDI 1981 to 1986. He was responsible for fourmulation of Master Plan for Raniganj Coalfield and planning of major opencast projects of ECL. Worked as Chief General Manager (Projects) in ECL up to 1990. He was Executive Director in Coal India Head Quarters and retired in 1996. He is Chairman of the MGMI Techinical Committee of Asian Mining Congress.
