We have a saying in Sanskrit "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam". Meaning the whole world is a family. For every tourist, when he she tours a certain area, he/she has a perfect chance to get familiar with the population residing in that area. Tourist have every chance to understand the manners, customs, rituals, traditions, behaviour, folklore etc. of the territory they visit. On the other Side, the area which receives tourists has a chance to understand the culture, customs and manners of tourists visiting in that area. That is why in Agra we have small uneducated urchins speaking English with tourists, and the tourist getting fascinated with our salwar kamizes, sarees and safas. This type of cross cultural interaction between the tourists and hosting population has been highlighted in this book. This book tries to capture various facets of cross cultural interaction and their impacts on a population and an area. This book has been divided into twelve chapters, which deal issues like: Framework for Cultural Tourism Studies, Concepts in Cultural Tourism, The Influence of Cultural Tourism, European Cultural Tourism, Cultural Tourism, The Globalisation of Tourism, Indigenous Cultural Tourism, The Arts, Festivals and Cultural Tourism, Cultural Tourism and Urban Life, The Political and Sociocultural Environment and Tourism, and a concluding chapter.
