Part II Airborne Systems: All communication, navigation, landing and radar aids have been explained, including the modern systems of Global Positioning System, Mode-S transponder and Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TACS). Readers will find almost all the avionic aids installed on a modern aircraft in this book. Part II has also, in most of the chapters, been made in sections of (1) Purpose of the system, 92) main features, (3) Operation and Control, and (4) System details. For quick reference of the main system parameters, therefore, access has been made easy. System details are there for reading, if required.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR P.S. Dhunta

P.S. Dhunta is presently serving as deputy Director Communications in DGCA, Government of India. he passed his BE in Electrical Engineering from Allahabad University in 1968 with second rank in the University. After a span of three years as lecturer in Electrical Engineering Department of .N.R. Engineering College, Allahabad from 1968 to 1971 he joined Government of India as technical officer in the Civil Aviation department. The Author has undertaken installation of a number of communication, navigation, landing and radar aids at various airports in India. A long experience of 26 years in the aviation industry is attributed to the Author. Since 1993, the Author has been associated, on behalf of the DGCA, with development of Future Air Navigation Systems (FANS) in India. He represented. DGCA Indian in the FANS Committee at ICAO, Montreal in September-October 1993.
