Orchids are known to produce one of the most varied, fascinating, colourful and attractive flowers in the whole plant kingdom. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Keshab R. Rajbhandari

Keshab R. Rajbhandari has been working as a Scientific Officer in the Department of Plant Resources, Kathmandu.  He joined this office in 1974.  he received Master degree of Science in botany from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, in 1972.  He was awarded Doctor of Science in plant taxonomy from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1989.  he had also served as an Assistant Lecturer in Central Department of Botany, Tribhuvan University, from 1973 to 1974.  he has widely traveled across Nepal in pursuit of plant research.  He has attended several national and international congresses, workshops, seminars, meetings and has authored many important research papers on plant science.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sushila Bhattarai

Sushila Bhattarai worked from 1970 to 2001 as a Scientific Officer in the Department of Plant Resources, Kathmandu.  She received Master of Science Degree in Botany from Patna University, Patna, India, in 1967 and was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Cytotaxonomy of orchids from the Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu in 1993.  She was involved in training programmes in cytology/cytogenetics at Jodrell Lab. Royal Botanical Garden, Kew, UK in 1976-1977 and in Plant Genetic Resources Exploration at Bogor, Indonesia in 1978.  She is now teaching in Central Department of Botany, Tribhuvan University.  She has traveled across Nepal in pursuit of plant research.  She has attended several national and international congresses, workshops, seminars, and meetings and has also authored many important research papers on plant science.
